The Living rooms, “Hall” as it is called, is actually the most spacious and used place of the house, not only by its occupants but also by those who visit the house. Therefore, it’s natural for anybody to keep it clean, neat, make it look great and off course show-up too. The uniform color of the walls with a contrast color or special treatments for one wall seems to be the norm.

Is this the only option available?
Not really, there are quite few enviable options, which include painting with stencils, textures or wall paneling with laminates or wall cladding with tiles, Italian marbles and granites etc. The decorative ideas are endless, a great homemaker would just build a great wall out of nothing, and I remember my father making a beautiful wall hanging displaying the medals won by me and my siblings, later on that inspired my mother to add a showcase with the trophies, cups and dolls. Needless to say, renovated wall was not only a masterpiece given the cost spent on it, but served as an inspiration till I completed my schoolings.

A home is a home, whether it is decorated or not, but am sure you would agree with me, the environment subtly induces our moods,  you would have noticed places like temples, schools, your home and some particular places reminisces happiness because you were actually happy in all these places. So create an environment that actually keeps you happy, just because you spent too much on the walls, it need not be great and inspiring. You don’t have to stereo type it by saying white for light, blue is cool, red sexy, pink girly, yellow happiness and green pleasant etc.

Keep it simple and stupid, paint your favorite color, keep decorating the wall the way you want, change it as and when you feel it needs a facelift, give a new look every time, trust me painting one wall is cheap and hassle free. To conclude, painting need not necessarily be an enviable option but certainly a fantastic one to keep us inspiring.
